Overview

Dr Mathew Keegan is a Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, Advanced Interventional Endoscopist and Pancreaticobiliary Specialist who lives on the Northern Beaches in Sydney with his family. He graduated from the University of New South Wales (2009) and was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2016). He subsequently pursued further subspeciality training with fellowships encompassing advanced endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, and pancreaticobiliary medicine and endoscopy under renowned experts at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Australia, St James University Hospital in the United Kingdom, and Hôpital Jean Mermoz in France. He has later completed an observership at Hôpital Erasme (Université libre de Bruxelles) in Belgium.

He has presented the findings of this research in Australia, the USA, and Europe and been published in international scientific journals and medical texts. He is a member of several Australian and International professional societies and is accredited for gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Dr Keegan is highly skilled in diagnostic and screening gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He has also performs a broad range of advanced endoscopic procedures including EUS and ERCP (treating pancreas and bile duct conditions), minimally invasive procedures to remove early cancerous and advanced precancerous growths found during screening (EMR/ESD), and specialised procedures in the small bowel (enteroscopy). He is passionate about using these techniques to offer prompt diagnosis and to optimise patient outcomes by offering minimally invasive options.

Dr Mathew Keegan takes pride in how much care and attention to detail he gives every patient, ensuring that he gives them the best possible evidence-based, holistic, and high-quality care. He promotes evidence-based preventative care measures. He is also an active member of a multidisciplinary cancer care team to facilitate rapid access to expert care.

He offers consultations in Mona Vale and Frenchs Forest. He’s a visiting Gastroenterologist at Northern Beaches Hospital and North Shore Private, and he also performs procedures at Pittwater Day Surgery and Dee Why Endoscopy.
